Introduction to ValoTracer
  • Brief introduction

    Based on ten years' consulting experience and data accumulation, CCM has developed a dynamic database named ValoTracer which covers such industries as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, energies, biotechnologies, chemicals and materials. ValoTracer, a dynamic database which contains a dynamic butterfly value chain, has established systematic connections among thousands of products in such fields as energies, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and materials, according to their respective positions in various industry chains which are interconnected. This database will greatly facilitate the search and identification of commercial opportunities for manufacturer enterprises, banks, investment institutions and government.



  • What is the aim of dynamic database?

    In the beta version, ValoTracer only contains the database for glyphosate industry, a strong point of CCM's research based on its ten years research experience. In the future, CCM will further extend the data scope and cover more industries in ValoTracer, aiming to establish an online real-time consulting system including six industries.

  • How to use ValoTracer


    General

    ValoTracer is user friendly. First, you can search your target products inside the dynamic butterfly value chain or in the textbox beside the butterfly. The product you choose will be automatically located in the butterfly center. Second, you can choose the type of the data, which we also define as index, in the frame under the butterfly. Third, you can choose time span of the data. And then you can see the sorted data.

    Data in the ValoTracer is only opened to paid users. If you' are an un-paid user, you cannot see any data and figure in ValoTracer except for asterisks '*' .

    Use steps are as follows: Search or choose a product in the dynamic butterfly value chain - Choose an data index – Choose time span for the data - Payment - Get the data you need .

    1. Dynamic butterfly value chain

    The key section of ValoTracer is the dynamic butterfly value chain in the middle. The large yellow button in the middle of the butterfly is the focus product of the ValoTracer, and all data of this product are presented beneath. Every time you log in, ValoTracer will acquiescently move glyphosate technical to the butterfly center. But you can change the acquiescent centered product in your registration or in your user interface.

    Besides, you can see the veins of green or gray arrowheads and buttons on the left and right wings of the butterfly. Products on the left wing are the raw materials of centered product and that on the right wing are downstream products, each of which are divided into three levels. If there are more downstream (or upstream) products of centered product, they will be presented in the combo box on the palp of the butterfly.



    2. Product indexes

    There is a line of indexes beneath the dynamic butterfly value chain, and each index stands for an aspect of the data of centered product. For examples, there are nine indexes of Glyphosate technical, including “Producer”, “Production”, “Import”, “Export”, “Price”, “Consumption”, “Industry Transfer”, “Manufacturing Cost” and “Fixed Cost”. The data of centered product is sorted by these indexes.

    According to the characteristics and depth of CCM's research on different products, CCM has sorted the products of ValoTracer into 5 levels with different research emphasis, indexes and prices. For more details of the indexes, please refer to Indexes Category.

  • 3. Time span of data

    In ValoTracer, all data with indexes are further sorted by time. You can choose time span for the data in the drop down list.

    4. Asterisks "*" and particular data

    Data in ValoTracer is open to paid users only. Before you become a paid-user of ValoTracer, data won't be available and you can only view table or figure with asterisks "*". The hidden data will be unveiled after you purchase it. You can follow the purchase guidance in CCM's website to purchase specific indexes, products or the whole industry database.

    5. Payment

  • 6. Content chunk

    Content chunk is a mini article that describes or analyzes a specific event, or product, or industry, or organization, or any other things.

    Currently, most of the content chunks are obtained by splitting CCM's market reports, newsletters and other consultancy products finished in the past ten years. But from 2010, the content chunks will be directly generated from CCM's everyday exclusive survey and professional analysis.

    There are two kinds of content chunks, namely text-type unit and image-type unit. Text-type unit is composed of words, while image-type unit is mainly composed of table, figure or photo.

    All content chunks have a concise description and are tagged with all kinds of labels for clear understanding. The labels include,

    For each label, relatedness degree ranging from 1 to 5 will be marked to reveal the relatedness degree to the content chunk. 1 indicates the lowest relatedness, while 5 indicates the highest.

    Also for each content chunk, the value ranging from 1 to 5 will be evaluated according to the share of first-hand info and depth of analysis. 1 indicates the lowest value, while 5 indicates the highest.

    Here are two samples listed for further understanding.

    Sample 1:

    “Nantong Jiangshan's businesses cover production and sales of pesticides, resin, basic chemicals, etc. In 2008, the company achieved revenue of USD472.49 million (RMB3,232 million), 70.16% of which are from glyphosate, resin, sodium hydroxide and dichlorvos.

    Glyphosate is its major business. In 2008, Nantong Jiangshan gained sale income of USD226.2 million (RMB 1,547 million) from glyphosate business, accounting for 59.3% of its total sales income. Glyphosate business has brought profit of USD72.47 million (RMB495.7 million) in 2008, accounting for 73.15% of its total gross profit.

    Owing to the high price of glyphosate in H1 2008, Nantong Jiangshan has achieved gross profit rate of 32.04% in glyphosate business in 2008, despite the price slump in H2 2008.

    As glyphosate price decreased sharply and hit the bottom in Q4 2008, glyphosate business brought little profit to the company. It suffered loss this quarter.”
